This number has improved down to 17.7% in 2004. In summary comprehensive and charge-invariant metrics such as PARBX are more informative and objective than collection ratios. However these metrics alone fall short from identifying specific areas for billing process improvement. Modern technology helps identifying billing bottlenecks as it allows interactive review of multiple metrics along different aggregation dimensions. For instance PARBX metric is especially helpful to identify patterns of problem claims containing specific payer or CPT code. Further modern Vericle-like technologies enable comparison of every payment to allowed amount and subsequent appeal on every denial effectively reducing the average percent of accounts receivable to low single digits.
Indeed samples are a great way to simultaneously give the client a specific set of options which in turn makes billing that much easier while maintaining control over your time and schedule. And when you consider that the time saved can be used to take one jobs that are perhaps more custom in nature (and thus cost more) then you can see that sample business proposals are an excellent idea. Sample business proposals then are an integral part of your successful business and will allow you to grow your business that much quicker.
When we started we used a very simple contract that really didnt cover much at all. When situations arose that were problems our contract was no help. We had to re-write it once we had been in the business for a while and knew what needed to be covered. So where does a new billing service start when they havent been in business long? Its hard to write a contract covering all areas and what to do when you havent experienced it yet. Most new billing services are working on limited capital and dont like to spend money on a lawyer writing a contract for them. Unfortunately many new services cut corners here to save money but thats not a good idea. Your contract should be at least looked over by a lawyer if not written by one. If possible you should try to find a general practice attorney who specializes in contracts.
