All too often when you are writing a letter the majority of concentration goes towards the contents followed by the grammar and spelling. It would seem that many times the layout and presentation gets left to last and has a tendency to be not as good as it could be. When you have prepared the letter correctly it means that all of the readers attention is focused on the information in the content.
