Agreement Template / December 6, 2018 / Daphne Pope
There is nothing worse than having to recreate the wheel every time you do something and it makes perfect sense to use a template to speed up your work and deliver better results on a daily basis. If you are employing staff you certainly need to implement an Employment Agreement. This agreement should be between them and your business and it needs to be clear and well defined. This is because the last thing you want to happen is for your employee to get upset and then take legal action against your company for whatever reason. The best thing you can do is make sure each of your team is engaged using an agreement that both parties have read and signed and agreed upon. What exactly should be in this type of contract? Well firstly you need to be aware of any laws in your country regarding employing people.
A good form will have some empty lines to write specifics about the job role in case the basic agreement doesnt cover them. Another benefit is the clear reduction in legal liability that a business can achieve by using a simple employment agreement template. When you have clear requirements for both parties written in a signed document this eliminates a lot of the ambiguity and costs associated with lawyers and courts if you are ever sued by a current or former employee (or worse yet the employees union). As long as the agreement follows the law and the employee was competent at the time of signing most courts will honor its terms. This can get you out of a very expensive situation! On the other hand a detriment of using a pre-written template is that it may not handle more complex jobs or specific types of contract projects where there are a lot of detailed deliverables.
While you probably lock your important files away in secure filing cabinet when you are not in your office and have installed security encryption software on your electronic files to keep prying eyes out have you stopped to think about your employees? In order to make sure that they understand the importance of keeping your company information safe you may need to use a non-disclosure agreement template to draw up a document for each employee to sign stating that they will not disclose any information. This type of agreement is put in place to ensure that any information pertaining to your company and your clients will be held in the strictest confidence. It is used particularly where the sharing of information must occur between two companies but not be released to the general public.
